Dental implants at I-Rise Dental - Dr. Anu Mohan
Are you someone with missing teeth and looking for a way to get your smile complete? Then dental implants are for you. Watch this video as Dr. Anu Mohan from I-Rise Dental explains dental implants.

What is a dental implant?

Hello everybody, this is Dr. Mohan here from sunny San Diego. Welcome to my practice I-Rise Dental. We are located here in Del Mar, CA.

Today I am going to talk to you about dental implants. The dental implant is a fixture made up of a treated metal alloy.

It’s a titanium zirconia alloy that’s placed in your bones. The dental implant looks like a little screw post that goes into your bone. What goes on top of it is called the crown.

Who is an ideal candidate for a dental implant?

A dental implant is for anyone who’s missing a tooth. That said, it depends on your age or any medical conditions.

We will not recommend a dental implant on a growing child because the jaw is still growing, and we would not know where the dental implant ends after the growth is done.

Why should someone choose a dental implant?

If you are missing a tooth, we will offer dental implants as a first option because it helps the bone maintain its integrity and density throughout.

It also helps with not disturbing the adjacent teeth. So if you can afford a dental implant, you are doing great service to your dental health and the bone you have left.

Dental implants would be an ideal solution for missing teeth in the long term and it is in the bone, so it’s not going anywhere.

The position is not changing, so it helps you to maintain the dental integrity, function, and mastication of the way the teeth bite.

Are dental implants safe in the long run?

As dentists, we take absolute caution and care while we place a dental implant. The environment is sterile; everything we touch is sterile because we don’t touch anything outside the field.

The dental implant itself is treated many times to ensure they are sterile, and the outside of the dental fixture has properties that will ensure it’s not oxidized.

But after this, it is your responsibility as a patient at home to maintain the area by brushing, flossing and making sure you clean it well like your life depends on it.

Because if any food, debris, plaque, calculus, or tartar gets stuck around the dental implant, you are looking into an infection we call Peri-Implantitis.

Down the road, it can lead to failure depending on how much it has not been taken care of. So it depends upon you as a person how much maintenance you can do at home and how long your implant lasts with success.

Clear aligners at I-Rise Dental
Clear Aligners are not just for aesthetic reasons. A key benefit is that it helps gums and bones recalibrate and work around the teeth in your mouth. Watch the video to learn more.

“Hello everybody, Dr. Anu Mohan here in sunny San Diego from I-Rise Dental. Our motto is being kind and compassionate with a state-of-the-art facility where we have put thought into everything we do.

We serve patients of all ages and with a very high standard. Today the topic that I want to share with you is clear aligners.

Who is an ideal candidate for clear aligners?

If you have teeth in your mouth and they are all permanent teeth, not baby teeth, you are an ideal candidate.

Every 20 years of your life, the teeth, muscles, gums, and bones in your mouth need to be recalibrated. With this comes the importance of clear aligners.

What is the purpose of wearing clear aligners?

Many times clear aligners are mistaken for just aesthetic reasons. Meaning making the teeth look beautiful and all aligned well. But that is not the only purpose.

The key benefit of clear aligners at an adult stage is that it helps the gums and bones recalibrate and work their way around the teeth in your mouth.

Just like you exercise for your body, shower, or get a massage to feel rejuvenated, your teeth need to feel the exact same way. The clear aligners do just that.

Through various stages in life, the teeth also go through changes you don’t realize. So if you want to keep your long-lasting smile for a long time, I suggest clear aligners.
