Then, in order to make aligners that fit properly, we will use an intraoral scanner to generate a 3D model of your teeth. The dentist will then create a personalized treatment plan, mapping out when and how your teeth will move throughout the treatment. Next, our dental lab will create your aligners to match the exact specifications of your treatment plan. Most patients need 18-30 aligners, although fewer or more aligners could be used depending on your orthodontic case. 

With clear aligner treatment, you’ll progress through treatment by switching to a new set of aligners every two weeks. This is similar to how metal braces require periodic adjustments by the dentist to tighten the wires and shift the teeth. Although the aligners are removable, you must wear them for at least 22 hours daily. As you advance through treatment, you’ll see us every 6-8 weeks to monitor your treatment progress. Although timelines vary, many patients achieve their desired results within 12-18 months. 

When you switch to a newer set, you may experience tightness or mild pain. Trust us, the discomfort is mild and dissipates within a few days. No one loves discomfort, but this could be a good thing. It’s a sign your aligners are working by moving your teeth where they need to be!
