Speaker 1: Here, the infection—because we have a crown, old crown—and we have a really bad infection going on, and they start the cancer from here. And I’m lucky they don’t go to my bone.

Yeah. Hi, my name is Harshana, and I do the laser treatment over here because I got the cancer.

Speaker 2: She was actually brought in by her family, and when she came in, she was extremely frail looking. She had just finished her cancer treatment for her cancer in her thyroid.

She couldn’t eat anything. She was extremely weak, and she looked very depressed. I asked her how she was feeling, and immediately she started crying.

Speaker 1: Before laser, I had to—I’m tired to eat because it hurt to open my mouth. I didn’t have any taste—just like cardboard. Whatever I ate, just like cardboard.

Speaker 2: I did notice a lot of inflammation inside of her mouth, which related to the radiation that she was going through. We call it osteonecrosis of the jaw, and severe inflammation of her cheek and soft tissue—to the point that it was burning her so much she couldn’t eat anything or drink anything.

She just could not enjoy her life at all. And that’s when I started her on her path of laser regeneration, where we use the PerioLase to help recuperate her healthy cells.

We did it very frequently—once a week for at least half an hour—and we could see the changes, amazing results. And in a month, she came back and told me that she was able to start eating normally, and the laser really helped her find her path to almost full recovery.

So we are very happy about where she is going.

Speaker 1: My life has changed now because I’m active. My smile is back. Everything back.

And whatever I want to eat, I can eat. I eat everything. I have everything. But without food—no life, no survival.

Speaker 1: Since I was 16, 16, 17 years old, I already started to have a little bit of periodontitis, and then when I had my kids, it really, really went in the wrong direction.

Speaker 2: Angela is a little bit of a tough cookie. When she came in, she was not very sure because she did have past experiences where she didn’t have gum surgery, but she never really recovered gum health ever.

Speaker 1: I got all kinds of injections and all kinds of treatments that I thought maybe they’re going to make it stop, but still, every doctor says, “Take care. Take care if you don’t want to lose your teeth.” So that was the first time when I figured out that, oh my God, that’s going to be a problem.

Speaker 2: Once you are a perio patient or you have gum disease, there is no real cure. So she has had painful surgeries, and it was a very traumatic experience for her.

So when she came in, we had to make her feel comfortable. We had to let her know that we are not going to do any surgery, but we are going to use laser to help restore her gum tissue and her oral health in general.

So we could get her to a place where we can get her some implants and give her full dentition—so we can give her function and, at the same time, use her stem cells to help regenerate her own periodontal health.

Speaker 1: Immediately after the laser, I saw the improvement. The gums are coming back to their position instead of being very down, kind of like retracted. They’re coming back.

The color is beautiful. It’s connected to the tooth. Even—I had an implant not done here, obviously—but I had an implant on the left side where the gum line was quite low, and I was like, wow. After the laser, it immediately went back.

So I will probably do it every year, this laser, because for me it works. Amazingly.

Speaker 2: We are in treatment and she’s very happy right now because she’s painless, and she doesn’t have to take a whole lot of drugs.

But at the same time, you always have to take care of yourself. You have to maintain, and you have to be under a protocol.

Laser and the LANAP treatment have given her a path, so she knows exactly what path she’s taking to gain her health.

Speaker 1: I don’t think this is me. I mean, was I that bad? That’s what I’m saying. It is like, it’s hard to imagine. That’s why I was feeling self-conscious when I was talking in front of a group.

Mentally, I was affected by this cosmetic change because in my profession I sometimes have to speak in front of groups. So it was a little hard for me. I was a little self-conscious at first. I never had had that experience before. So it was kind of a shift for me, and I just decided that that’s what happens in later life. I’m just going to have to accept it.

Speaker 2: He was at a point where he did not know what to do because he lost all his front teeth and he lost a bridge that he was mainly using to function and eat, and his main concern was just function. He didn’t care really how he looked, but he just wanted to eat.

Speaker 1: So I saw an ad on Facebook and it was for Dr. Mohan. I came and really liked her, and we just set up the program.

Speaker 2: I mean, the easiest thing would have been to yank out all his teeth, but financially he could not afford it at that time. Plus, he had a healthy set of teeth on his left side of his jaw.

So I told him, we have to take care of all the teeth, not just the ones that we are treating, to be able to fully bring back your oral health. Because if you just treat what we are treating, you’re still not going to have a healthy mouth.

So we extracted a few hopeless teeth, but at the same time, we gave him a few implants and then did some laser to regenerate his gum health and restore some of his sensation on the upper left side.

Now he really enjoys smiling, and every time he comes in, he thanks us for giving him his smile and function back at the same time.

Speaker 1: Words of gratitude for Dr. Mohan are really high. She’s an exceptional dentist, and even recently, there’s a little bit of recognition that, oh my gosh, I’m chewing on both sides of my mouth, and oh my gosh, I can eat nuts again.

So yeah, it’s a little fascinating to know that I don’t have to worry about the foods that I used to have to worry about. And I’m not just saying that to promote Dr. Mohan, I’m just revealing my personal experience with her.

Speaker 1: It’s hard to believe that I lived like that. That absolutely makes me feel emotional too, that my life is so, so completely different than how it was like that. And grateful—completely grateful. Dr. Mohan said, “Come on in, we’ll take care of you. We’ll get you going.” And she did.

Speaker 2: He’s always been happy hiding behind his mask. And he took comfort during COVID because he didn’t have to ever take off his mask. And the irony of that is he’s a bartender. He’s always in front of people and he loves to smile and talk.

Speaker 1: Your smile is everything. It’s the first thing people see, other than your eyes. They look right at your smile—your mouth. And so yeah, it was pretty devastating to my social life, without a doubt, in the hospitality business.

And my smile was a lot, but I was never happy with the crown, especially with my getting older with it. My teeth changed colors, and the crown stayed like a teenager white, so it got to where I didn’t appreciate my smile. I didn’t like using it so much, but at least I didn’t have a missing tooth.

So then I got to where I wasn’t so self-conscious about it, but then people would point it out. Then you’re like—it’s one thing after another—and you just didn’t smile, and you tried not to talk.

Speaker 2: He was actually referred to me by one of his close friends, and to take him under our wing and start treatment was a little bit of a journey. We had to give him confidence again.

Speaker 1: When you come in, there’s a serenity to this office, and you feel like you’re her only patient—her only procedure.

And matter of fact, the morning I wake up and realize I have a dentist appointment, I just feel relaxed about it. I don’t know. It’s rewarding when you come to her office, and when you leave, you feel you’ve done the right thing for yourself and for your smile.

Speaker 2: We said, “You know what? You have a good set of teeth on one side of your mouth. Let’s keep that and use that as a guide to restore the rest of your mouth back to health.”

We did a really deep cleaning on him. We did laser therapy on him. We brought his inflammation down. We gave him an implant bridge that looks great, and his teeth in totality look amazing.

Speaker 1: When she put the implant in, it just looked so good that I wanted my other front teeth to match it. And that led me into asking her about veneers.

And I am completely satisfied and so thankful that I made that choice, because my mouth hasn’t been this good since I probably was a baby—I got my first baby teeth, to be honest.

And I’m very confident with my mouth, and my breath, and just everything about my mouth. It’s something that I went years and years feeling insecure about—and the doctor gave me that—and that’s priceless.

I put myself through hell. I lived with the guilt. I lived with the depression. This person is so far back in my history. This person is gone forever.

Since I came here from other dentists in the area, my teeth were so far gone. They were worn down from age basically, I grind my teeth, so they were down to nothing on the lower half. And the upper half was in terrible shape as well. But doctor’s been wonderful trying to fit me through all the changes that she has done to me, and I’m so grateful. I’m almost ecstatic, almost crying. So well done. I’m so happy that I had it done and I can’t wait until it’s finished, but it’s a great change from what I had in the past. Hi, my name is Gerald and I’m here to give a testimonial or actually more of my experience with I-Rise Dental Boutique and Dr. Mohan. I met Dr. Mohan at an event. I didn’t necessarily come to get some dental work done, but she was so nice and so engaging that I knew I needed some dental work done, and I decided to try out Iris and very, very happy I did. I got to tell you about Iris dentist. Oh my God, I love my dentist. I love her office. Everything is positive, everything is good. The place is so colorful, it’s so beautiful, and she’s really, really kind. This so important that the bedside manner, as we put it from your dentist or doctor, is positive and good. Well, the experience here has been wonderful. It, it is so, um,
heartwarming that there’s a dentist around here in San Diego County that ha, that specializes in taking care of people who have autism or has or has white coat syndrome and doesn’t use big needles.

Maybe the very, very first day I was here a little bit,

but they’re experienced in taking care of people like me here.

I just want to personally thank Dr. Mohan for my teeth. It’s been a lot of years that I’ve not had teeth, and it’s just an incredible feeling, and it really brings about a great confidence. And I mean, today’s the first day that I really have my first, you know, first part of it. But it’s something that’s been very important to me, and it’s, you know, it’s well worth the wait. I mean, the teeth are absolutely beautiful and perfect. She did an incredible job, and I just want to personally recommend her to anybody that has the same problem that I had, and you’ll be as happy as I am.

It was a big process. I had all my teeth taken out at one point, and then I was kind of stuck. They just left me to go find somebody to kind of pick up where they left off. And I was put in a situation that was not a very good situation, and I feel very thankful that I found I-Rise Dental Boutique because it turned my whole experience around.

And I have another friend that went through the program with me and he’s, I don’t know if I should say it, but he’s going to Western Dental, and he’s not really having a good time of it right now because, I mean, here I already have my lower teeth in, and he hasn’t even begun to get his teeth.
